This page is a starting point, not a live directory or an endless activity feed. You do not need an account and we do not ask for your precise location. Start with the broad area you already use—your town, borough or council area—and leave this site when you find a useful real-world connection.

Local council and library websites, noticeboards and staff are durable places to check. Confirm opening times, accessibility, age requirements, costs and safeguarding arrangements with the organisation before attending.

Choose a route

• Sports clubs: look for council leisure directories, local leagues and sessions open to beginners.
• Volunteering: ask a local volunteer centre or established charity what time, skills, checks or equipment it actually needs.
• Community groups: check libraries, community centres and places of worship for regular groups and mutual support.
• Small businesses: use local traders and markets where they meet your needs, and recommend good service directly.
• Events: consult council, library and venue calendars, then verify details with the organiser.
• Libraries: ask about reading groups, digital help, classes, warm spaces and local-information services.
• Youth activities: use council or established provider listings and check age ranges, supervision and safeguarding before taking part.

Make a useful contribution

A regular hour, a practical skill, attendance at a public meeting, use of a local service or a needed piece of equipment can all help. Ask first rather than assuming what a group needs, and choose a commitment you can sustain.

If nothing suitable appears, widen from your neighbourhood to your town or council area, ask a library or volunteer centre, or suggest an established resource for future inclusion. Please send only the general area and public organisational details—not a home address or another person's private information.

Safety, corrections and removal

We do not currently publish a local directory. Before any finder launches, every listing must identify the organisation and who maintains its information. It will work without an account, use no more location detail than needed and offer useful wider-area suggestions when there are no results.

To flag inaccurate, unsafe or outdated guidance, or ask for an organisation's listing to be removed, use the contact page and include the page, organisation, public source and requested change. Do not include unnecessary personal data. We will distinguish a factual correction or safety report from a political disagreement, review the source and record the outcome; urgent danger should go to the appropriate emergency service rather than this website.
